Import, export, and backups

One of our values at Reflect is regarding data-portability. In short, your data is always yours to take wherever you want.

While we do store your data in a proprietary format (which helps us with the offline sync, encryption, etc), you can always export it into an open format (like HTML or Markdown).

Imports

We currently support imports from:

To import data you can navigate to your Graph’s preferences (keyboard shortcut: cmd ,)- and click on relevant graph in the sidebar.

Migrating notes from Apple Notes

First you’ll have to export your existing Apple Notes using the provided script below, then import them into Reflect normally. You can watch the video demonstration of how to do this below.

Migrating notes from Evernote

Evernote has a relatively simple export feature. You can either export entire notebooks, or select individual notes to export. Then you can import your notes normally. We also have a video walkthrough of this you can watch below.

<aside> ⚠️ We currently do not support importing attachments (like PDFs) from Evernote. Sorry - this is on our todo list.

Backups

While all your notes inside Reflect are securely synchronized to the cloud whenever you’re online, we also make daily backups to your hard-drive.

This is useful in case a natural disaster takes out our servers, or you lose your password.
